Phenotypic diversity of Tropheryma whipplei clinical isolates

چکیده

Tropheryma whipplei is a bacterial pathogen responsible for wide range of infections in humans, covering asymptomatic carriage, acute infections, chronic isolated and classic Whipple's disease. Although the bacterium commonly found environment, it very rarely causes Genetic comparison clinical isolates has revealed that main variations were region encoding T. surface glycoproteins called WiSP. However, no association been made between genetic diversity manifestations infection. In this study we evaluated phenotypic 26 from different origins taken patient with infection outcomes. MRC5 macrophages cells infected, uptake, survival pro-and anti-inflammatory potential was assessed. No significant difference phagocytosis isolates; however, replication increased bacteria expressing high molecular weight addition, expression genes coding IL-1β TGF-β significantly higher when stimulated compared to localized while differences observed macrophages. Overall, our that, as previously at level, associated WiSP, which may result subtle host responses. Other factors or predisposition explain infections.

Tropheryma whipplei Endocarditis

Tropheryma whipplei endocarditis differs from classic Whipple disease, which primarily affects the gastrointestinal system. We diagnosed 28 cases of T. whipplei endocarditis in Marseille, France, and compared them with cases reported in the literature. Specimens were analyzed mostly by molecular and histologic techniques. Duke criteria were ineffective for diagnosis before heart valve analysis....

Tropheryma whipplei endocarditis in Spain

Tropheryma whipplei endocarditis is an uncommon condition with very few series and <90 cases reported in the literature. The aim of the study was to analyze the epidemiological, clinical, and outcome characteristics of 17 cases of T. whipplei endocarditis recruited in our country from a multicentric cohort from 25 Spanish hospitals from the Spanish Collaboration on Endocarditis-Grupo de Apoyo a...

Cultivation of Tropheryma whipplei from cerebrospinal fluid.

Whipple disease (WD) is a systemic disorder caused by the bacterium Tropheryma whipplei. Since the recognition of a bacterial etiology in 1961, many attempts have been made to cultivate this bacterium in vitro. It was eventually isolated, in 2000, from an infected heart valve, in coculture with human fibroblasts. Here we report the isolation of 2 new strains of T. whipplei from cerebrospinal fl...

Murine model of infection by Tropheryma whipplei.

We developed an animal model reproducing several aspects of Whipple's disease. Immunocompetent mice were persistently infected with Tropheryma whipplei, its etiological agent, and developed liver granulomas. SCID mice were infected similarly but did not develop tissue lesions. The delayed clearance of T. whipplei suggests a protective role for innate immunity.

Intrafamilial Circulation of Tropheryma whipplei, France

Tropheryma whipplei, which causes Whipple disease, has been detected in 4% of fecal samples from the general adult population of France. To identify T. whipplei within families, we conducted serologic and molecular studies, including genotyping, on saliva, feces, and serum from 74 relatives of 13 patients with classic Whipple disease, 5 with localized chronic T. whipplei infection, and 3 carrie...
